Lettuce Protector in Iraq
Army Private Jeremy Friendly of Owenstown Texas recently sent us a letter from Najaf, Iraq. Jeremy sent us a nice thank you letter recounting his gift of a Lettuce Protector from his family in Texas, “Sasha [Jeremy’s Wife] mailed me this package at the beginning of November, but I didn’t get it until a few days before Thanksgiving. I about fell out of my cot when I found a fresh head of iceberg lettuce, like it was picked that day from Granny’s garden. My Thanksgiving was the best Thanksgiving I’ve had since I’ve been deployed. Canned turkey, powdered stuffing, cranberry jelly, and lettuce from home.”
Jeremy goes on to say, “Although the lettuce in Iraq is nothing compared to what they have in Owenstown, it’s still nice to know I always have a well protected head of lettuce even in the desert heat. The Lettuce Protector is such a hit in my unit that I often find myself mixing up a salad even when out on patrol.”
We wish Jeremy and our troops the best.
To show our support we’ve pledged to donate a percentage of all purchases to help feed the troops.
